Coming to Jesus on His Terms
Mark 10:17-22

The rich young ruler came urgently and respectfully to Jesus but walked away because he would not come on Christ’s terms. Eternal life is not merely a place after death but saving union with God through Christ, received by surrendering to the Lord Jesus.

And I just want to thank you and tell you what a blessed privilege it is to see you again See some new faces. Thank the Lord and many familiar faces It's my joy to serve you the Word of God this week and this evening and Lord willing Throughout this week, but I want to begin at the beginning this morning and in just a moment. We're going to read in verse 17 If I were to each evangelical church in this county this morning and went from person to person Few to few or seek to see and ask this question. What is eternal life?
Some people would immediately say well that's going to heaven when you die Well, that's icing on the cake, but that's not Jesus definition of eternal life Some would say that's walking on streets of gold and looking at pearly gates and having a reunion with grandma Well, that's not Jesus definition of eternal life If anyone knows what eternal life is Jesus should know amen and Jesus says in John 17 3 This is eternal life that you may know God the Father and You may know Jesus Christ his Son whom he is sent So what are we saying eternal life is not found in a place?
It's found in a saving knowledge of a person It is entering into a living vital union and saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ so that because of this saving knowledge of Jesus The Lord Jesus might become the supreme love of your life He might be the sovereign king of your life. He might be the very epicenter of your Existence so that you might find your identity and build your identity in him That's eternal life And if someone's going to experience and enjoy eternal life and thus escape the eternal wrath of God in hell then that person must come to the Jesus of the Bible on his conditions and Here in Mark chapter 10 we notice a man now imagine this a man who comes running to Jesus while Jesus is before a large crowd and He falls on his knees before the Lord.
He asked life's most important question What must I do that? I might obtain? inherit this eternal life and Yet he walks away without eternal life Because he was not willing to come to Jesus on his conditions Let's read the text notice verse 17. We call it the story of the rich young ruler notice What verse 17 says now as he that's the Lord Jesus was going out on the road One came running melt before him and asked him Good master good teacher. What shall I do that? I might inherit eternal life Verse 18. So Jesus said to him. Why do you call me good?
No one is good, but one and that is God You know the commandments do not commit adultery Do not murder do not steal do not bear false witness. Do not defraud honor your father and your mother Verse 20 and he answered and said to Jesus teacher all these things I have kept from my youth Then Jesus looking at him loved him and said to him one thing you lack Go your way sell whatever you have and give to the poor and you have treasure in heaven and Come take up the cross and follow me But he was sad at this word and he went away sorrowful For he had great possessions Would you notice with me first the man in this message?
Do you know he was a man of position? We call him the rich young Ruler and that's because the gospel writer Luke calls him a ruler and the word ruler there is not a secular ruler The word means a religious leader more than likely He was a lay leader at the local synagogue. This man was a highly esteemed man in the community He would have been a well-respected man.
He was heavily involved in religious affiliation religious attendance religious activity He could have been the man of the year of this county He's a man of position, but not only that he's a man of possessions We call him the rich young ruler verse 22 says he had great possessions in other words he was a wealthy man and in these days a wealthy man was a man who had all of his needs met and beyond his needs I've traveled out of this nation approximately 160 times 38 of those to Cuba where the average income is 50 the equivalent of 50 cents a day India it's $2 a day Can you where I've been many times?
It's a dollar and a half a day Do you realize that comparatively speaking everybody in this room this morning is rich? But riches do not profit in the day of wrath This man was a man of position. He was a man of possession, but he was a man with a great problem Because there was a vacuum there was annoying Void in his soul just like my surgeon who gave me life-saving Surgery a few months ago I had the opportunity to witness to him in his home for two and a half hours and he said I've got a very successful Practice I've got this big mansion.
I've got my own jet airplane, but there's something missing and This is what this man was experiencing there was a gnawing void There was an emptiness in his soul when he got quiet and got alone. He knew something was missing But not only the man in this message notice the manner in which he comes to Jesus verse 17 the second half of the verse tells us that he came urgently to Jesus One came running his lack of assurance Concerning the eternal destination of his never-dying soul gave him a sense of urgency So he saw an opportunity to talk to Jesus and there's no apathy here. There's no negligence.
There's no complacency he comes running And not only does he come urgently he comes regularly The scripture says in the second half of verse 17 he knelt Before the Lord Jesus now the Lord's out on the open road There would have certainly been a crowd around him possibly a large crowd Maybe many of this man's friends and neighbors and religious acquaintances could very well be in the crowd and yet he comes and publicly kneels before Jesus who is hated by the religious leaders And yet he's willing to pull down the mask with all of his religiosity His religious attendance and activity had not met the desperate need of his soul And he's not ashamed to admit it.
He comes urgently he comes Definitely. Not only that he comes with life's most important question How can I have eternal life what are you trying to say brother and this man is concerned about eternal things You know, this is half the battle with most people I witnessed to and tried to talk to about the Lord Jesus most people in this county are so Distracted by the noise and clutter of the temporary things of this world They are dangerously neglectful when it comes to the condition of their soul the need of their soul the eternal Destination of their soul, but at least this man realized he's going to spend eternity either in heaven or in hell He's going to stand before God and He's concerned about the condition the need and the destination of his soul He comes with the right question and and far greater than all those things.
He comes to the right person He comes to the one who is the source of eternal life He comes to the one who has the words of eternal life He comes to the one who is the way the truth and the life he comes urgently He comes reverently. He comes to the right person. He asked the right question and yet tragically He goes away without eternal life He walks away without the salvation of his soul without a saving knowledge of Jesus He walks away without heaven as his destination and still on the road to eternal hell Have you ever wondered?
Why doesn't Jesus Give this young man a little formula like so many preachers do today He Says how can I have eternal life? Why doesn't Jesus say well salvation is as simple and as easy as ABC Jesus doesn't say that Because salvation is not simple And it's not easy In the same text Jesus says it's impossible With man, he didn't say it was simple He didn't say it was easy He says it's impossible With man, but not with God Why why doesn't Jesus say to this man he's come running he's come kneeling he says how can I have eternal life Why doesn't Jesus say just repeat this prayer with me?
But Jesus doesn't do that Jesus never did that No apostle or disciple ever did that I Mean the guys come running he's urgent he's reverent he's concerned about his soul Why doesn't the Lord Jesus just say won't you accept me as your personal Savior? Jesus never asked anyone to accept him as their personal Savior Because friend the issue is never will you accept Jesus? The issue is will Jesus accept you That's the issue and he'll only accept you on his conditions No, instead of all these man-made Concoctions I just talked about no Jesus gives him a command.
He says here's what you need to do young man Go your way sell whatever you have give it to the poor You'll have treasure in heaven and come take up the cross and follow me What Get rid of everything I have take up a cross and follow Jesus Why does the Lord Jesus place these terms on true conversion Why are the terms so high? They appear to be impossible to meet May I ask you are they different today?
Or have a whole lot of preachers watered down the terms and given people false religious experience What are the issues Jesus confronts this young man with what are the terms to a Saving knowledge of Jesus and more importantly have you come to this Jesus? on his term Well, there are four issues he confronts him with I want to mention them to you this morning The first one we find in verse 17 second half of the verse in verse 18 He confronts the young man with his fallen character Jesus calls he calls Jesus good master the word there is essentially perfectly good to the core and The Lord says why do you call me essentially perfectly good to the core?
No one is perfectly good to the core but one and that is God now listen in these days no one ever referred to a teacher a rabbi as being Perfectly good to the core because everyone knew that only God is perfectly good to the core And Jesus says to this young man. Why are you calling me? Perfectly good. Oh could it be that the Lord Jesus was forcing this young man to consider the true identity of the Lord Jesus Christ This young man certainly didn't realize the truth that the one gazing into his very being Was the great I am Was a manual God with us the one who was looking into his soul was God made Manifest in the flesh and God the Sun is confronting him and he's confronting us with the reality that only God is uniquely absolutely Perfectly good to the core young man.
No one is good to the core but one that is God and young man That includes you You are not good to the core young man You are bad to the core You have a falling character and Jesus is confronting this very religious young man and us With the truth that we were all born into this world with bad hearts with fallen Characters now this young man had been in the synagogue all his life He should have known the words of the prophet Jeremiah when God said to the prophet Jeremiah the human heart every human heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked That's the word of God and That word desperately if you could bring it into today's terminology It would be as if we're up in Jackson at the ICU our family is in the ICU We have a loved one in ICU and the specialist comes out to meet with the family and the specialist says to the family unless a miracle takes place The case is hopeless That's the word the human heart is hopelessly sinful and Selfish this young man this rich young ruler was making the same miscalculation that many people in our culture are Presently making he was thinking too highly of himself And he was not thinking highly enough of his creator God and do you know friends church members and visitors if we are left to ourselves to our own devices we will always think too highly of ourselves and not highly enough of God and You know if we're left to ourselves we'll always compare ourselves by the wrong standards We'll compare ourselves to other sinners Instead of comparing ourselves to the perfect holiness and righteousness of God so that we might see ourselves a loss guilty helpless bankrupt sinner whether desperately wicked If people are left to themselves I've talked to many of them left to themselves and they will always say something like this Well if there's a God and he's a good God He's certainly going to welcome someone like me into heaven Someone like me who's trying to do the best that he can I?
Mean I'm trying to be a good neighbor. I try to be a good American citizen. I try to keep the golden rule. I'm not perfect Nobody's perfect But I'm better than most It's like a young man I was witnessing to a while back he's he responded to me he said this he said mr. Lacey I may be a sinner But I'm a good sinner I Said well young man. Let's imagine we go into your backyard And we're digging around in the dirt there and we find about 50 worms squirming around there in the slime in the dirt But there's one worm among those 50 worms who is a standing worm The rest of them are squirming around but this worm can stand and not only is a stand.
He's a standing worm He's a speaking worm And we overhear him talking to himself and he's looking down there at the other 49 squirming worms And he says to himself you know I might be a worm But I'm a pretty good worm compared to these other worm I Said young man one worm compared to another worm is still a worm and one sinner compared to another Sinner is still a sinner You know what the Lord is saying he's saying no one is good enough Moral enough to escape the eternal wrath of God and hell and enter into the eternal presence of God in Heaven in and of themselves Because how good is good enough for God Well Jesus told us in Matthew 5 48 he said be perfect Even as your father in heaven is perfect Do you realize that God's requirement for escaping his eternal wrath and entering into his eternal presence in heaven?
Is that you must have a righteousness that is precisely? equal to the righteousness of God Who escapes the wrath of God who enters into the presence of God in heaven only those who have a righteousness That is equal to the righteousness of God and God will not he cannot lower that Requirement and that presents a major problem because there's how many righteous?
There's none right No, not one and The best of your human righteousness is to a holy God are as filthy rags to God I'm saying that the first point here is no one in this room No one in this County no one on this planted planet will ever enter into a saving knowledge of Jesus until they first have a true knowledge of their cells and their bad heart their fallen character Oh But the Lord digs a little deeper here He says not only do you have a fallen character, but notice verse 19.
He's about to show this young man You have failed the commandments he says how can I have eternal life and Notice what Jesus says in verse 19 You know the commandment and he quotes the second half of the Ten Commandments in the same story in Matthew 19 it's put this way the Lord says to this young man if you want to enter into life keep the commandment What This guy's come running he's fallen on his face. He's come urgently reverently. He's come to the right person He says how can I have eternal life and Jesus says if you want to enter into life keep the commandments?
Nobody's ever kept the commandments Except Jesus Well, that's precisely the point The Lord is saying to him and he's saying to us you need to realize not only do you have a bad heart before God? But you have proven it in the fact that you have a bad record before God and you're not going to enter into a saving knowledge of eternal life until you come under a deep conviction That you I'm speaking about you are a criminal in the courtroom of God The Lord Jesus is prosecuting him and he's prosecuting us with the very Evidence that we have shattered the law of God now this guy comes running he comes kneeling He says how can I have eternal life in the Lord confronts him with the moral law of God why?
Because by the law comes the knowledge of sin and No one gets saved on Jesus terms until they first get lost He's Holding up the law to him dear friends the Ten Commandments are not a ladder by which we climb our way into God's approval The Ten Commandments are a mirror That reveals to us that listen God is holy holy holy God has given us a perfectly righteous standard to live our lives which is the moral law of God But that reveals to us that every one of us have utterly shattered that standard those Requirements so that that would reveal to us we are lost bankrupt guilty Criminals so that that would reveal to us we are in desperate need of a Savior a Redeemer Deliverer have you ever seen your life in light of the moral law of God?
Jesus quotes did not commit adultery, but if you look after another with lust in your heart you've already committed adultery in your heart The Word of God says do not murder but anger sinful anger any kind of anger without a perfectly righteous cause Unforgiveness bitterness hating someone is the same attitude as murder in the heart of a person I Do not steal I asked you this morning. Have you ever taken even the tiniest thing? That did not belong to you Ever stolen some time at work or at school You should have been working should have been studying paying attention, but you were goofing off How many things must a person steal?
To become a thief from God's viewpoint Only one Shoot you shall not bear false witness ever told a lie even a little white lie All liars will have their part in the lake of fire which burns forever Who would stand up today and say in my childhood in teenage years? I have perfectly honored and obeyed my father and my mother all those childhood teenage years Not only an action and attitude in motive Well if you stood up and said that you'd be breaking another commandment wouldn't you And the Bible says if we kept the entire law in only broken one at one point we're guilty of Shattering the entire law of God it is as if God has given you and I a final examination You remember those in high school or?
Maybe at university that semester exam well God has given us a final exam and the exam is the moral law of God the Ten Commandments and You can only receive two grades two possible grades from God you either receive an A or an F You can receive an A if you perfectly obey all the commandments 24 hours a day seven days a week 60 minutes an hour 60 seconds a minute all of your life you receive an A But if you fail one At one time You receive an F there are no B C's D's there's no gradient on the curve It's an A or an F Well dear friends the exam papers have come back And you receive an F Right But brother head I've heard you used to be a rock and jazz drummer and live the life that goes with it for 30 years Of your life, so it's obvious that my F is better than your F It's still an F Well my F's almost a D.
You're deceiving yourself And a curse Condemned is Everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law and the wages Of making an F is eternal Separation from God Forever I'm asking you this morning listen has there ever been a time in your life that you Personally heard and sense the iron hand of the moral law of God Knocking on the door of your conscience Revealing to you that you are a lost Guilty criminal in the courtroom of God I'm not asking you if you've repeated some prayer for some preacher or you've raised a hand in a meeting or you've taken a walk To an aisle I'm asking you have you ever seen yourself a lost Criminal in the courtroom of a holy God Did you notice this young man's response After he's heard the second half of the moral law he says in verse 20 all of these things I Have observed from my youth how self-deceived he was How self-righteous he was He imagined that he had kept the commandments of God all of his life when in reality He had been shattering the moral law of God every single day of his life and Jesus is about to reveal to him you've been breaking all the law every day every moment Because you've been breaking the first and the greatest commandment You shall love the Lord your God with 100% of your heart mind soul and strength and you shall have no other gods before me But this young man had another God did He had another supreme love Jesus had never been his supreme love he had an idol he had another God this young man had been living a life of blasphemous idolatry against God every single moment of his life And what was his idol His wealth his money And Do you understand dear friends that everyone in this room who has yet to come to Jesus Christ on his conditions? is a blasphemous idolatry against God Because you were created for him You weren't created for yourself You weren't created to live for yourself you weren't created to live a self-centered self-directed self pleasing life You were created to enter into a saving Knowledge of Jesus Christ so that you might live a Jesus centered Jesus Directed Jesus pleasing life so that Jesus might be the supreme love of your life He might be the preeminent focus of your daily adoration and allegiance And you might find and build your identity in him and anything less than that is blasphemous idolatry against God And yet did you notice verse 21 Chris?
Jesus looking at him loved him God the Sun gazed into the heart of a blasphemous idolatry who had not only a desperately wicked heart But a bad record before God and Jesus loved him Jesus loves blasphemous idolaters And he looks into the heart of every person in this room today He knows every thought every word every action every reaction every attitude every motive He knows even the secret sins. He knows every idle word He sees all the blasphemous idolatry of those who are unconverted who've never come to Jesus on his Conditions in this room.
He sees all the law-breaking and yet he loves blasphemous idolaters As a matter of fact, he's so loved blasphemous idolaters That he left the glories and the perfection of heaven He was born of the Virgin Mary and God the Sun was made Manifest in human flesh and he came to earth and you know what he did he lived a life That was perfectly good to the core He made an a Every moment of every second of every day of every year.
He made a perfect a He perfectly obeyed the moral law of God the law you've shattered thousands of times He perfectly loved God the Father with 100% of his heart mind soul and strength You've all failed to he perfectly pleased God the Father and yet we've all failed to perfectly please him But Jesus made a perfect a and on the greatest day of all human history that we just Celebrated a little over a week ago the holy Son of God marched up to a cross not as a victim of circumstances, but as a Voluntary sacrifice and he bound himself to that cross with cords of infinite love for his father And cords of love for a blasphemous idolaters like me And you And there on that cross in three hours of supernatural darkness a darkness It was so thick that it could be felt the only person who ever walked on this earth It was perfectly good to the poor after the fall of Adam became the sinless Substitute on behalf of any sinner and every sinner Who will come to Jesus on his turn?
He who perfectly obeyed the law of God in the midnight of the blackness of darkness Receive the equivalent of an eternity of the just wrath and holy fury of God That we should receive forever in hell and yet Jesus as the substitute received and exhausted every bit of that wrath on behalf of any sinner And every sinner Who will come to him on his turn?
In the darkness listen God the father made God the son who knew no sin to be sin on behalf of repenting and believing sinners So that that sinner could be made the righteousness of God in Christ Simply saying God poured out all the wrath for all the F's of every sinner who will come to Jesus on his turn He poured out the wrath for those F's on his sinless son So that if you would come to King Jesus on his terms Jesus would give you His perfect hand That's good news Jesus loves Blasphemous idolaters, but he loves them enough to tell them a truth the truth about conversion And so this young man comes to Jesus and Jesus says listen.
Do you want to have eternal life? Do you want to have that bad heart cleanse that bad record forgiven here are my Terms here are my conditions. There are simply two and listen. This is the invitation right now It's not I we're not gonna sing a lullaby and have people walk up and down aisles No, this guy had already come running down the aisle He'd already fallen on his knees But here's Jesus invitation listen closely two points and we close first of all you must forsake your idol Go your way sell whatever you have give it to the poor you have treasure in heaven because Jesus is the treasure of heaven He's saying listen if you're going to enjoy eternal life You must smash your idol as the number one love of your life You must turn away from your idol as the place where you find your supreme Love your identity you must in this man's case turn your back on your green God as the number one love of your life and Embrace Jesus as your supreme love Jesus is confronting this young man with the truth that listen his life was all about the acquisition and maintenance of his wealth his stuff And Jesus is saying to him and he's saying to us listen to your friends.
You cannot serve two masters You cannot embrace two supreme loves To have a saving knowledge of me is eternal life, but young man I'm not coming into your life to be placed among your other gods I'm only coming in if I can be your Lord and God I'm only coming in if I'm going to be the undisputed Champion of your life listen this is obvious you cannot embrace Jesus who is eternal life? While you hold on to another idol another God No, if someone's going to embrace Jesus the saving knowledge of Jesus which leads to eternal life then that person must let go of his idol and Who or what is an idol?
Well whoever it is or whatever it is that is number one supreme love in your life If it's not Jesus, it's an item Where do you mainly find your joy your purpose your identity your significance your satisfaction in life? It who is the preeminent treasure or what is the preeminent treasure of your life? It's not if it's not Jesus It is an idol whoever or whatever you find and build your identity in Besides the Lord Jesus that is blasphemous idolatry against God now it may be just like this young man.
It may be well Or the trinkets and toys that money can buy with many people that's their idol With some people it's the Bulldogs or the rebels Or University of Southern Mississippi their life revolves around sport. That's their God That's their supreme love Jesus has never been the supreme one They might try to tack him on but he's never been the supreme love of their life All with some people it's television some people is movies or music some people it's shopping some people It's a drug addiction or alcoholism or sexual promiscuity. You know some people their idol is their family.
Oh Yes You know a spouse can be your idol If Jesus has never been number one and the spouse is number one that's idolatry It can be your children It can be grandchildren anything that is in that position where only your creator has the right to rule and reign For many people is their occupation. It's climbing a ladder in their career other people. It's actually religion But this man was very religious. He was up to his eyeballs and religious attendance and activity But he did not know God savingly and This too is idolatry And if a person's going to know eternal life They must be willing to turn from their idol and listen.
This is a command from Jesus This is not a nice idea. This is not an optional extra This is a command from God the Sun and listen if a person refuses to obey this command That refusal will be the obstacle that damns their soul to hell Because if you lack forsaking your idol you lack true repentance And if you lack true repentance you lack conversion And if you lack conversion you lack eternal life if you lack eternal life You lack a saving knowledge of Jesus you lack salvation and the only alternative is Eternal hell God commands us To repent To forsake our idols to forsake our ways To forsake our sin and Jesus says unless you forsake them you will perish That's Jesus invitation.
Oh But there's one more point one more term its repentance towards God and Saving faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ and how does Jesus picture saving faith in this verse he says come Take up the cross and follow me Now what is he saying not only must you turn from your idol you must also turn to the Lord Jesus Even though you can't see him today, but by faith you put your confidence in what he has done To take away your F's and give you his a and you commit your life to him In light of the fact that every one of us were born with a bad heart Every one of us have a bad record before God in light of the fact that you've had a lifetime of F's But in light of the truth that God the Father made God the Son who made a perfect a to be that F On behalf of repenting believing sinners so that that sinner could receive Jesus perfect a in light of the fact that on that cross God the Son was being pierced for the transgressions of crushed for the iniquities of Any and every sinner who will come to Jesus on his conditions in light of this fact God commands you to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ And dear friends, this is so important When the Bible says believe on the Lord Jesus Christ It is not talking about you giving a superficial mental assent a mental agreement to a few historical facts about Jesus and about you and then repeating a prayer That's not saving faith Giving a mental ascent.
Well, Jesus is God the Son Jesus died on the cross for sinners Yeah, you agree with that? Yeah, I agree with that Jesus rose from the dead you agree with that Yeah, I agree with that. You agree your center. Yeah, I'm a center. You want to go to heaven? Yeah, I want to go to heaven pray this prayer That's not saving things Saving faith is a personal commitment to the person Who left the glory of heaven who lived a perfectly righteous life who went to the cross as the voluntary Functionary sacrifice for sinners. It's a commitment to the person who rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of the Father Who is Lord and God?
It's not just giving a mental agreement to some facts about Jesus if placing your personal confidence in the person and the work of Jesus and Committing your life to the one who is Jesus Jehovah God who saves who is Christ the Messiah Who is Lord? You know what Jesus is saying to this young man. You must come to me as your Savior But you must come unto me as your Lord And you must come after me to be your master teacher The call to a conversion is a call to follow Jesus To be converted from your ways your sins your idols you be in the boss and to become a follower of the Lord Jesus FA I Th for safety all I take Yeah He came running He fell on his knees He came to the right person He asked the right question and can you imagine him there Kneeling before Jesus Jesus loving him loving him too much to water down the message and give him a phony religious experience Jesus loved him enough to confront him with the true terms And I can just picture him Well, I forsake my idols embrace Jesus.
So will I hold on to my idols? And he finally says No No, I Won't come on those terms And he went away lost And unless something happened that we don't know about he's been in hell For almost 20 centuries Because he was not willing to give Jesus his sins to be forgiven He was not willing to give Jesus his life to be ruled.
Oh He would have been happy to tack Jesus onto his life But he was unwilling for Jesus to be his life He would have been happy to give a mental agreement to some facts and pray a prayer But he was unwilling to come to Jesus on his term What about you Have you come to this Jesus On his condition Not a Jesus of your own imagination Not a Jesus of some watered-down Baptist preachers concoction But this Jesus Have you turned from your idols to serve the living God Have you come under this Jesus as your king are you coming after this Jesus as Your master teacher this young man walked away still in his sins How will you walk away today?
Will you say brother Ed now you're gonna ask us to bow our head and repeat a prayer and raise our hands no, I'm not That's not in the Bible I Was an invention of man less than a century ago No, here's what I'm gonna do I'm gonna plead with you to turn from your idols And commit your life to the Lord Jesus Christ for what shall it profit you You gain this whole world of idols and Lose your soul Would you bow with me in prayer God commands all men everywhere to repent unless you repent you will perish If you're sitting here and you know you've never turned from your idols your ways your sins or you don't know you just don't know Would today would you smash your idols?
You can't do it on your own God will give you the grace to do it He desires that you would come to him on his conditions Would you turn away from your worship of anyone or anything else as number one in your life? Would you repent in your heart right now? Would you place your personal confidence in what Jesus did alone? to take away your thousands of F's So that he might give you his perfect a that he wrought out on this earth Would you be willing today to commit your life to him you realize you have a bad record you have a bad heart you Are a sinner and nothing but a sinner and there's nothing you can do to merit anything from God except Judgment, but you realize That what Jesus has accomplished in his perfect a and his Substitutionary sacrifice on the cross to take your F's is Perfectly sufficient to wash away your sin and make you right with God You can call on him today if you'll call on him as your Lord in Repentance from your ways your sins your idols if you'll believe on the Lord Jesus Christ Putting your confidence in him alone committing your life to him who is the exalted Lord Then today Will be the day of Salvation for you.
Thank you Lord. I Pray your word would go forth not in word only but a demonstration of your mighty power today and That even today a man a woman a young person Would repent of their ways and their sins and their idols and believe on you Lord Jesus If you need to talk to someone after the service you've got questions about what you've heard There's a number of us who would love to speak with you from the word to answer any question If you're struggling, you don't know where you stand before the Lord if you've come to this Jesus on his terms I've got a little booklet here It's all about the claims of Jesus and what it means to come to him.
You can take it seek the Lord You can cry out for him to save you right where you're seated if you have believed on him privately And you need to tell somebody you'll be compelled to tell somebody Brother Chris would love to hear that wonderful news that God has done a saving work in your heart You'd like one of these booklets I'll be at the back door you just tapped me take one and seek him It's full of the word and that's how saving faith comes by hearing the word. My brother.
