James closes by describing those who stray from the truth and stand in the error of sin. The message treats their condition soberly as lostness exposed by the tests of real Christianity.

James points to Elijah as an example of earnest prayer from an ordinary man with a nature like ours. The message presses believers to learn from Scripture and the lives of praying saints.

James connects prayer with honest confession and spiritual restoration among believers. The church should be a place where sin is brought into the light and brothers and sisters pray for healing.

James continues teaching the church to pray for the sick with reverence for God's will rather than presumption. The elders must seek the Lord, discern circumstances carefully, and minister with faithfulness.

James instructs the sick to call for the elders of the church so they may pray in the name of the Lord. Sickness is treated seriously as a place for pastoral care, spiritual discernment, and dependence on God.

James forbids careless oath-making and calls believers to truthful, plain speech. Christian witness is damaged when religious language hides a pattern of dishonesty.

James calls suffering believers to wait patiently for the Lord like a farmer waiting for fruit. Trials involving people require strengthened hearts, restrained grumbling, and confidence that the Lord is coming.

James warns that wealth gained through injustice, withheld wages, self-indulgence, and oppression will face the judgment of God. The sermon calls believers to handle money as stewards whose resources belong to the Lord.

James rebukes the unrighteous rich for hoarding possessions in the last days while their wealth rots, rusts, and witnesses against them. The sermon presses money as a test of the heart and warns against treasuring what cannot last.
